The HL-series of industrial single shaft shredders is the product of more than 30 years of experience. We develope and manufacturing machinery related to wood waste reduction and utilization. Scanhugger equipment has been installed and serviced in woodworking plants all over the world. The single shaft shredder is unique in its capability of processing a wide range of materials, such as solid wood, particleboard, MDF, plywood, cardboard, paper, and pallets.

Each industrial wood shredder system is tailormade for your requirements. The Scanhugger HL line-up, coupled with a full range of options and auxiliary equipment enables Scanhugger to build turnkey wood waste utilization systems. The range includes pneumatic discharge systems, chip conveyor and also auger discharge systems, metal detection and metal separation systems, wood scrap conveyors and specially designed auxiliary hoppers.
TURN WOOD WASTE INTO PROFIT
Our reliable industrial wood shredders ensure the production of a homogeneous granulate. The granulate can then be used for in-house wood chip furnace, biogas plant, biomass co-generation plant and the production of wood briquettes. And this reduction in size also reduces your disposal, transport and storage costs. Regardless of how you are planning to use the wood chips, we will configure the shredder and auxiliary products for woodworking scrap exactly according to your needs.
UNIQUE KNIFE DESIGN
Our knife design and precision mounting arrangement ensure long tool life, optimal chip quality, and easy maintenance. Our exclusive machined chip pocket in front of each knife position allows for chips to clear out of the cut, thereby maximizing the cutting action and the output of the chips.
The knife can be rotated up to four times which allows for a longer lifespan of a single blade.
THE ROTOR - STURDY BY DESIGN
The rugged, heavy-duty frame and rotor, along with the chrome nickel shaft and over-sized roller bearings, are engineered to accommodate the heavy shock loads typical of shredders. Rotor and shafts for the HL 2/5/5 and HL 2/7/10 are turned from one piece of steel grade ST.60. All other rotors used for the HL-series are a two-piece construction using high-grade chrome-nickel steel for the shaft. The rotor body is turned from a steel tube ST.52. The rotor body and shaft are connected using high torque, conical power locks.
THE SMART RAM SYSTEM
A Scanhugger PLC controls the unique Smart Ram-system. This system controls the ram action and ram speed based on the main motor load, as well as the material being shredded. The Smart Ram-system eliminates overloading of the main motor, thereby maximizing the cutting action and the output of the chips.
HEAVY DUTY SCREEN
The chip size is determined using a heavy duty chip screen with square holes. Hole sizes range from 15×15 mm to 70×70 mm in a solid perforated steel plate. Hole sizes from 80×80 mm are a welded construction. There is access to the screen through the hinged cover on the machine front.
GUIDES AND CYLINDERS
We design the hydraulic cylinders for long wearing dependability. Combine the system with controls for ram-speed and action with features such as pause, stop, reverse and move forward ensures an optimal feeding intake. The reversible pheonolic guides guarante a day in, day out performance and also smooth ram operation.
We produce and tailor fit a large range of machinery related to separation, conveying and handling infeed and chip discharge to and from the production line. Our metal separation solutions ensure the removal of all ferrous particles before further processing.
